Poured Out

"But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming form your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me."

Seriously? Paul seems to know where this story is heading, that his life is coming to a close and it apparently is going to end in some sort of violent death. And he is rejoicing, and he wants the church in Philippi to rejoice with him.

Because poured out is intentional, it's not being spilled. To spill is to waste, it's to look down and wonder what happened. To come to the end of your week and ask, "Where did it all go?" To come to the end of your life and ask, "Where did it all go?"

I don't want to live that way, and I don't believe anyone else does either. So will we give our lives to something bigger than ourselves? Will we, like Paul, be poured out as an act of intentional worship? That is to serve, to give, and to live in a way that makes a difference for good. For others. A life that is dynamic, not static.

Being poured out, it's much easier to say than it is to live and exercise each day. I'm all in. Interested in joining me?
